I have a large DEM, reprojected into UTM from geographic lat long,
(original source, National Elevation dataset 1/3 arc second DEM).
When I produce a hillshade using Raster-Analysis-DEM (Terrain models) the
hillshade is full of tiling artifacts, the edges of which are slightly
offset from NS and E

really strange,
the point sampling tool is an ordinary plugin in the official repository
and when you install it it is found under Plugins -> Analyses -> Point
sampling tool
Whether that plugin is indeed what you are looking for is beyond my
understanding of your subject.

I removed all of the dependencies previously installed (gdal, geos etc...) then
updated my library and used the locate command to delete what I could find. It
was a bit difficult with postgres/GIS because MacOSX comes preinstalled with
postgres 9.1, but I eventually got all that worked out usin
Hello!
I have the LandScan 2002 Global Population Database at 30 arc seconds but I
am not sure about its format; either "Raster GIS: ESRI Grid format" or
"Binary raster: ESRI binary raster format". I need to extract and process
only data for Argentina, but I feel like I've been beating a dead hors
I changed to ldxe, reinstalled Qgis. Georefencing works well. Must be
problem with Unity.
Merci, Etienne!

That is really encouraging - will have to give that a try.
What sort of 'cleaning' did you do?

Hi all,
I am using QGIS 1.8.0 on Windows 7. Using GRASS, I transformed several
shapefiles (all polygons) into raster maps, then I assigned certain values
of interest to the pixels, and finally combined all five rasters into one
using GRASS raster map calculator. Now I need to apply a kernel smoot
Hi,
using the Old Symbology what possibilities does the drawing by field
option provide?
I'd like to know what I can do in detail with "Area scale" and "Symbol".
Does "Area Scale" provide the possibility to enter a minimum scale for
drawing a feature? Is this to be taken from an attribute column?
Hi!
Worked like a charm, I had to -- pip install numpy, but once that was in order,
brewed everything in place -- run qgis from terminal, the first time, then can
just lock it in place on the menu bar, if you want -- probably need to make
sure to follow instructions regarding python in paths to
I assume you are using Unity? There are numerous problems with it,
and a few issues related to qgis.
Can you try another desktop, like kde, xfce, MATE or cinnamon?
cheers

All,
Thank you for replying. The problem appears related to the starting of an
X-window or whatever is the equivalent in Ubuntu with Qgis. Once Qgis went
unstable the first time, I could "kill 'pid' " to stop it but upon restart
of Qgis, all that appears is a highly unstable bit of graphics
Hello,
thanks for all your informations about the combination of QGIS server and
csv-files.
I will try to use absolute paths or the solution with a XML "wrapper" then
as a workaround for now.
best wishes,
Thomas
