Is there enay way to record altitude in qgis?
Can one calculate distance of points that are near in terms of 2D
coordinates, but they are far away regarding altitude?
Say if I want to calculate radio link losses from a repeater located on a
hill, and an end station residing down in the city.
Hi all,
will the MapServer Export plugin be implemented in QGIS 2.0 in the
future?
If yes we can describe it in the user manual again.
Kind regards,
Larissa

AFAIK the original plugin has been dropped. We are busy
Hi,
Before a while I was able to open .dwg-files in Draftsight. This program
however still isn't available for 64bit ubuntu. The workarounds I used
before (for example:
http://linuxaideddesign.blogspot.nl/2012/03/draftsight-and-ubuntu-1204-lts-64bit.html)
all seem to clash on installing.
Dear all,
I've seen that the QGIS 2.0.1 is now available and looks promising! Did someone
already has some feedback ? Is it stable?
I saw that the map manager changed, as well as other features. Is it compatible
with previous versions?
Regards
Lucien
Hi Lucien,
You should definitely use the 2.0x releases. It is in most respects
better than the 1.x releases.
Here is a list of most of the new features:
http://changelog.linfiniti.com/version/1/ (don't be fooled about the
URL, it really describes the new features of version 2)
- Especially the
Thank you andrea for your answer!
You convinced me! Just one additional question. On Linux, if I upgrade to
qgis2, is to possible to go back to 1.8? And how? I have some projects and maps
I don't want to upgrade. I've looked on internet how to go back to a previous
version but I didn't found

Here is the warning message when I type QGIS in terminal:-

Hi Lucien,
Oh - I was falsely assuming you are on Windows. On Windows it is easy to
install QGIS 1.8 and 2.0 in parallel, by using the OSGeo4W installer. I
don't know about Linux if you do not compile from source.
If you compile from source it is easy as you can define the
CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX
Thanks Arlindo! The links did'nt help in my case. However I found
another solution which I would like to share here: _VariCad_ _Viewer_.
You can find it in the Ubuntu Softwarecenter. According to the
information Sofwarecenter provides it's free of charge (though not
freeware, as is Draftsight)
Hi,
Is there a way to make/have/turn the Openlayer plugin basemap into offline.
I am only working on certain area on the map all the time, and don't have
internet connection all the time, it would be nice to have the base in
offline mode. Otherwise, I have to wait until I get internet connection
While using Atlas generation, I'm producing maps with several diferent
scales, and therefore diferent scalebars.
Having the scalebar at the right hand side of the page, whenever my scale
change, either the scale does not align well with the map frame or just
gets out of the page.
Is there a way

¿Might this be a window manager issue? I remember
I have problems with window management in Unity. Usually QGIS's window
opens in a different workspace and it gets messy when I have QGIS main
windows + 2 or 3 print composers.

Hi Johan Alex,
Hi!
there is a short section about having two different versions side by
side if you compile it by yourself ..
http://quantumofgis.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/help-in-helping-qgis-becoming-better.html
maybe that helps you a bit ..

Hi Alexandre,
This is already possible in QGIS 2.0 - there you can specify the
Alignment in the Display group.
Are you using 1.8? I don't remember if this option was already was
present in 1.8.
Hope this helps.

I'm trying to use the plugin 'Layer to labeled layer' plugin which should
