Hi list?
Is it possible to install qgis 2 in ubuntu 13.10?
From the official repository (
http://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#ubuntu ) I can only
install qgis 1.7.
Thanks

Hi Stefano,
http://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#ubuntu should work
for Ubuntu 13.10.
You have to add the Saucy repository to your sources file:
sudo [name_of_your_editor] /etc/apt/sources.list
add the following lines at the bottom of this file:

Hi Stefan,
This seems logical to me. The data-defined styling only changes a
graphical property. It does not control whether a feature is drawn or
not. You could set it to fully transparent, but this would still fetch
features and draw them (though invisible).
If you want to suprress
Hi Andreas
for me it seems unlogical. The CASE-WHEN-ELSE statement is returning zero for
scales larger than 1000. So I don't see any reason why QGIS draws a line with
an unpredictable line-width.
I do not have access at the very moment to QGIS. But what happens when you just
enter 0.0 as
Hi,
If a line-width with 0 is rendered than it is a rendering issue and
not a logical issue.
The CASE WHEN ELSE END statement always returns a value. That's what I
meant that it seems logical to me.
I don't think that QGIS does suppress the rendering of lines with zero
width. It just
Hi all
Is there anyone could tell me what is segments to approximate in the buffer
tool ?
I know that if I increase this value, there's more nodes on my buffer but I
don't know what is it exactly and how we can choose this value.
Thanks

Hi I've been trying to report an issue/bug, as requested. The registration
process is a very long way from straight forward.
I found this page with instructions (no links from qgis home pages, found
via a search): http://hub.qgis.org/wiki/quantum-gis/Bugreports. The option

Hi Guiseppe,
In Qgis 1.8 exist a plugin named Profile Tool. This plugin allow you to
create a topographic profile from a raster layer. Maybe you can create a
raster from your vector data.

I knew and already used that plugin: I have several points on a surface and in
that case it suits my purposes because I interpolated the vector points to
obtain a DTM raster to use the plugin.
But in this case I'd need a way to accomplish the task directly from surveyed
vector points without

I just tried a line-width 0 and it is rendered (no data defined stuff, only
simple styling).

Hello giuseppe,
You can do it directly on a spreadsheet like libreoffice calc. Get the X
and Y coordinates, and elevation from each point, For each point, calculate
the distance to the previous point using:
sqrt((x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2)
and in a new column calculate acumulate that value (This is
Hi,
Buffers for points are round. There are also round corners for
line/polygon buffers, depending on the linecap styles and line join
styles. QGIS and simple features can only display straight lines. The
number of the segements to approximate means the higher the number, the
more vertices
Thanks for checking - so it is a QGIS rendering issue and has nothing to
do with data-defined styling.
A new feature would still be the ability to draw or not draw a feature
(boolean) based on an expression. Would be interesting to have in some
cases.

Hi Ludovic
The number of segments depends on the exactness of the results you
expect. If you create a circle buffer around a point with radius of 1
the area of the circle will running against PI with increasing number of

Hi Andreas,
that is great. I would test it as far as it is out.

Hello,
I have been using Qgis for about a year and a half now. I just upgraded
from 1.8 to 2.0 and have run into an issue with one of my shape files.
I have a shape file that is a point layer which has been working fine
and displaying fine in 1.8. When I open the layer in 2.0.1, The symbols
Dear Andreas, Horst
Thanks a lot for your answers, it's perfect.
Maybe it could be interesting to insert this kind of things in the
documentation ?

Hi Daniel,
Can you share this particular shapefile and the corresponding qml that
shows the problem?
Did you try to load it into a fresh project, not re-using the old
project? Can you load into an empty project?

oops... I don't use mailing lists often so Its not surprising.
I know that Rangeview does not have any attributes and the ID's are
null, but it was simply meant to be used for visual purposes on the map
and not meant to have any data associated with it.
I will go ahead and file a bug report.
Well It looks like I solved my own problem. I went in and found that
there was a point with NULL in all the attribute fields, so I deleted
that point and saved the file and everything shows up now.
Weird.
Daniel.
