If you have access to Windows XP and can install GDAL, gdal_translate is the way to go to convert ECW to something else and GeoTIFF should be on your list for that something else. There are a lot of webpages out there with sample gdal_translate commands, but I recommend reading about GeoTIFF

Hi, recently was release the last proj 4.9.1 it contains un updated epsg db with news epsg codes. So we start to offer the news epsg codes in our wms services. But from my first test with the qgis 2.8.x I can see that the qgis 2.8 don't understand and do not show the new epsg codes in the list
