Great, Thanks Jürgen - will give it a go, and write back if I have any
issues. Looking forward to trying 3.0!

Hi there,
can anyone please tell me, how to snap panels back to a fixed position?
When I drag them out, I'll get floating panels - but I never can get
them back to fixed ones. Same with toolbars.
When double-clicking the title of a panels, I can get them snapped, but
not where I want them to be.

Hi All,
Was considering adding QGIS 2.99 nightly build to my stack (via OSGeo4W
installer) to start exploring it, but realize it installs/uses Python 3.
Thus, will there be conflicts if I have 2.18.x and 2.99 installed

Hi Sarah,
I've used Maperitive (http://maperitive.net/) in similar situations to
download OpenStreetMap map tiles and store them in a local MBTiles
database, from where QGIS can load them very quickly!
Rough steps are:
1. Decide on your web mapping
2. Set the bounds using UI, or running this

Hi there!
In order to do some testing, I've installed the daily nightly build
in parallel to the stable one. OSGeo4w installer seems to allow this.
The stable one starts like a charm, but the daily nightly throws out
many errors.
Sure, those are nightlies, but I thought, the biggest change would
Hi Naomi,
You should ask your question on the lizmap github.

Got it working.
Solution - Download master maps from
https://github.com/nextgis/quickmapservices_contrib and replace 'data_sources'
and 'groups' in C:\Users\\.qgis2\python\plugins\quick_map_services
Restart QGIS after this change

This is very helpful. I will take a look at the Perl provider plugin to
understand better what its role is.
I think without the plugin it is still possible to construct a perl command
line, Popen it, and read back the output from within a regular python
processing script but much less convenient.

I would like use relations between tables in my published lizmap project.
Relations are needed because they allow me to manage many-to-one relations
They work fine in QGis, but they do not show up in lizmap.
I found one GitHub lizmap relation issue:

I was able to figure out the problem. My canvas uses a geographic CRS.
But I still believe that's a bug. See my description in the track

I don't know about a basemap - BUT - I'd try the quickmap services
plugin. It's way more current than openlayers. Just be sure to click
Settings -> More Services -> get contributed pack to get extra services

Hi All
I cannot get the 'QuickMapServices' plugin to work with QGIS.
It just works Open Street Maps and nothing else. I am not even getting an
option to open Google/ESRI maps.

Hi Ari,
thanks for your providing your perspective.
A difference is that a plugin can provide multiple processing
algorithms whereas a script only one.
Another cosmetic difference is that a plugin can be managed and

Hi Tobias,
thanks for the feedback.
Tests have to be written and added by someone. Apparently no one did
this for the merge test yet.
In general this is quite easy, and doesn't require programming
experience, see

Hi
Another interesting point about the embed layers feature is how it reacts to
project variables. I use project variables for colors, symbol sizes etc. a lot,
for example many layers with similar colors, so I only have to change the
variable and not the color in every layer. I just tested how
Hi!
You can use LAStool to generate the vectors ("las2iso" for example).
SPDlib for Qgis is very interesting too.
For the geomorphological analysis , I work with the DTM, but I don't know if
it's the best method, I'm not topographer...;-)

To me it seems that processing algorithm provider plugins are language
or tool specific plugins that add a new section to the processing.
Processing is itself a plugin (although a core one).
I don't think providers should add custom GUIs beyond what is needed to
manage itself and the algorithm
