Hi all,
I am trying to configure a DXF export using the native:dxfexport algorithm and
layer symbology.
Using the categorized rendering for a vector layer results in values
"symbolLayer0", "symbolLayer1", ... in the dxf-file. In Autodesk Viewer these
values are the "Name", ArcMap imports
Dear Charles,
Rasters cannot be involved in DXF export (as Jürgen wrote).
You had better to use QuickMapServices or Openlayers plug-in, no need to
manual georeferencing. These plug-ins are able to display google, osm, ...
maps from the web.
Best regards,
Zoltan

That DXF is (usually) a vector format - ie. doesn't store raster data?

Hello everyboy,
I have a question towards the DXF Export in QGIS 2.10 . When I try to
export a project from QGIS into a DFX-file and open it in libreCAD, the
labels are not presented correctly. Some of them don't appear at all,
others are slightly dislocated and display further information
Hi Thomas,
libreCAD is extremely limited with its DXF Import and capabilities in
general. Apparently it can't correctly deal with labels. QCAD or
Draftsight do a slightly better job than libreCAD. The export was
optimized for compatibility with Autocad and FME. This is our reference.
They
Hi again,
I had a small test again with QCAD and Draftsight and apparently they
just ignore/suppress the labels. So all of the three free CAD software
(QCAD/Draftsight/LibreCAD) seem to have issues with labels
The more capable CADs like Autocad or Vectorworks - or the GIS/CAD
converter FME
Dear Russel,
you cannot export raster to dxf, it is available only for vector layers.
If your cad software can handle geoferenced raszter (e.g. AutoCAD Map),
you needn't export it only open. Check your target software what raster
formats are supported.

Greetings! First post here.
I'm having trouble successfully exporting to DXF. These are my steps:
1. In QGIS, choose LayerAdd LayerAdd Raster Layer
2. I select an .lbl file next to an associated .img file that I got from

Hi,
The current QGIS master version of QGIS server now contains DXF Export
support in the GetMap command. See documentation at

(should also be included in a future release of the QGIS manual).

One of the solutions is to used command-line tool ogr2ogr (available in

Hi,
Are you dealing with Polygon data?
There was just a recent fix in ogr dxf writing which was fixed
yesterday:
trac.osgeo.org/gdal/ticket/4680
I don't know how often gdal-dev is updated in osgeo4w if you can update
it yourself.
It is ogr's fault, not QGIS' fault.

Zirenklitis,
Thank you. It's been a while since I have been able to get back to this. Now
when I Save As to export the .shp, the DXF crashes AUtoCAD as soon as I
try to import it. Hmmm?

So I was able to identify the error:
Invalid database handle 0 on line 1548.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
I opened the dxf in notepad, but how do I find line 1548? Can I search for
it?
Thank you.

You should manually fix extent. You have to look for strings $EXTMIN and
$EXTMAX and correct the actual extent values Xmin, Ymin, Zmin, Xmax,
Ymax, Zmax. I soppose Zmin and Zmax are 0 (without quotes).
$EXTMIN
10 Xmin
20 Ymin
30 Zmin
9
$EXTMAX
10 Xmax
20 Ymax
30 Zmax
9

The error might help.If it happens to be a line numbered erro and happens to be
an ascii dxf you can open (as long as the mb size is not too large) in a
notepad. edit
Is it realy empty file or the exported layer can not be imported in
drawing applications?
There was a dxf export bug prior to gdal 1.9.1.
Now it's fixed.
