Check the Link that Harrisou sent in the previous email.
You can apply (maybe without wanting) blending modes to layers, features,
and even map composer items. So check the settings and make sure that for
blending mode you always have "Normal" selected. Only one layer or map
composer item with a

I tried ignoring the message. I removed the 'Save as Raster' message,
un-checked the Print as Raster selection (automatically selected by
Composer) and hit Save. This just resulted in the message returning.

Yes, I can see my question was not very clear. I do not want a raster
PDF. Composer has automatically set that option to Print as Raster
because of "Advanced composition effects" (from the error message), and
mentions "blended modes" or "vector layer transparency" being enabled.

Not exactly sure, but It may be that you need to have the *Print as
Raster* option Picked.
Its in *Export Settings* under *Composition*.
