Three questions from someone newish to qgis: 1. how do you put point data on a map in qgis. This seems to be the simplest thing to do in most other gis systems but the most difficult in qgis or have I completely missed something. E.g. I have a file of lat long coordinates or ordnance survey

Dear Mike, 1. maybe the "Add Delimited Text Layer" - Plugin is what you were looking for. Export your xls to csv and load that with the plugin. The manual explains its use if you have any difficulties. 2. did you have a look at dcw (digital chart of the world)? 3. ask a book on cartography or
