What is the most standard checkpassword -
program? I get to this www.qmail.org and
follow links from there, and I only get to a page with many different options,
which all seem very complicated and unstandard. I tried a few, with no
results.

Somehow I seem to be gettting problems with everything I tired to put
/home/maria7/Maildir/ in my .qmail - file. Now my mail doesn't go into Mailbox, but
also not in Maildir.
Now I'm confused...

> Installed. can I check if it's working somehow?
- From www.qmail.org:
Mark Delany has a clever way to test your checkpassword with a bit of command line
re-direction. For example,
>Uhm. Is your checkpassword really installed and working? Without
>it, you can't go on.
Installed. can I check if it's working somehow?
I changed the line to pop-3 (the rest same as earlier) and now I get into telnet 110.
well, I put user maria7
server replies +OK
then pass X
server says the passwd is invalid.
Should I get this, because I'm using mailbox, not maildir, or is something still
wrong?

>Is your checkpassword in /usr/bin?
i don't find the whole thing... maybe I'm just stupid`? =)
> (Executable for root?) Does
>your entry in /etc/services say "pop3" - since my says "pop-3"?
no - so that's one thing...
> 2. What does "telnet localhost 110" do?
there's just nothing in the port.
>1. How does the line look like?
pop3 stream tcp nowait root /var/qmail/bin/qmail-popup qmail-popup eof.saitti.net
/usr/bin/checkpassword
/var/qmail/bin/qmail-pop3d Maildir
(I tried to put it al on one line, and I guess it is, even it shows up as 2 lines
whatever I view it with.
2. What does
I put the line on qmail-pop3d into my
inetd.conf, and restarted inetd. Still my pop3d doesn't start. Why's that? What
can I do to run qmail-pop3d
[root@eof bin]# ./qmail-pop3d
-ERR this user has no $HOME/Maildir
this is what I get when trying to start pop3d...
what user is this thing talking about? alias? root?

a while ago here was a thread about messages
that vanished... now I have the same problem, but I can't find the old messages
anywhere... anyone that still has those, could you please send the thread
messages to me (on private, not to the list) or if you have any reasons for the
folowing, pl
now that I tried something more, I noticed another thing:
from qmail-newu I get the error message: qmail-newu: fatal: bad format in
users/assign.
my assign file reads the following:
=maria7:maria7:501:501:/home/maria7:::
=tilaukset:root:0:0:/root:::
=root:root:0:0:/root:::
=info:root:0:0:/root:::
I can only put one entry for every username in my assign - file? why's that?
e.g. if I put
=maria7:maria7:501:501:/home/maria7:::
=maria.zevenhoven:maria7:501:501:/home/maria7:::
only the first one works...

> Make a .qmail-root in ~alias ... works for me.
you mean, a .qmail-root file in the admins home directories? what should I
put in that?
all my mail accounts except for root are working fine... but root:
I have a system, where all admins should get all mails sent to root. the
mail for root is as default stored in /root/Mailbox, but I have there a
.qmail, with the following information:
