On some systems, it can be helpful to do a "grep -i pop /etc/services" to find out what the nomenclature is as well. FYI (to the original poster), that POP3 you misspelt (un*x is usually case sensitive) is just looked up in a file like /etc/services and the port substituted in. - Original Me
