order of operations

hey, im running qmail 1.03 and have my smtproutes set up like so .quintiles.com:[10.1.1.1] quintiles.com:[10.1.1.1] but when qmail sends to domains like somedomain.quintiles.com it seems to be doing a dns lookup to find out where to send the mail to.. isnt this supposed to be captured in the fi
