I have not seen what you are describing but I have had a quadrupling
(4X) the amount of spam attempts since the 10th of Feb!

installed with e mail notifications and that's what brought it to my
attention. I usually see 3 or 4 attempts a day and over the past
few days it's been 30 to 40.
