Hi Folks. Elen's H4 needs new 'P' seals on the targa top as they are
starting to leak. What is the best source please (most parts seem to
have disappeared from the Quantum Heritage web site and I'm not sure
that the generic ones they still list are correct)?

Hi Folks,
This is a continuation of the thread
http://groups.google.com/group/quantumowners/browse_thread/thread/1664da06335de996,
which is not allowing replies for some reason (too old?).
We now have a boot which always lifts off the catch when the
electric release is used and which opens, a
change from inlet to outlet on these MAF sensors
seems to make them less susceptible to non-laminar flow effects.
Performance seems to be much as before but the annoying level of
induction roar has gone.

Dear All,
Elen's H4 had a nasty mishmash of rubber pipes, cable ties, some
silly ignition-powered "turbo super-dooper fuel economy" fan, and a
very tired K&N, for its air intake system when we bought it.
No problem, thought I, and bought a complete RS1800 air filter box
and intake system cheap
Using a spring balance to lift the boot by means of a piece of rope
round the lifting lug, with the gas struts disconnected, the balance
reads 10kg. This works out at circa 485N needed between the two struts
just to keep the boot open. 600N seems a bit marginal to me when
there's a strong wind blow
Hi Eddie,
I'll keep it safe - not sure if we'll make it to Stoneleigh as I've
got chronic fatigue syndrome and that plus a new baby means I
struggle.

Hi All,
Does anyone have knowledge of the best rating for the gas struts on
the H4 boot?
One of ours needs replacing (the plastic end is about to part from
the threads) and in trying to find sources for replacement I have been
looking at the equation that Gas Strut Engineering (who made the o
Dear All,
Elen's H4 has a rather tatty tax disc holder which I think is
probably the original one (the car, so Internet research indicates,
having been a factory demonstrator). Before I bin it, I wanted to
check that I wasn't about to dispose of a rare item. The condition, as
I say, is not great
Regarding "levelling comound read smoothing", I beg to differ - the
cementatious latex levelling compounds are sufficiently thin that they
are significantly affected by gravity and therefore do level, rather
than smooth. This is not necessarily a good thing as your garage may
not itself be level an

long the new drive shaft and wheel bearing are going to last with the
side load they are getting. If all else fails, I'll get a custom drive
shaft made with 20 mm less in the solid shaft.

While a friend and I were replacing the drive shaft and wheel bearing
on the front near side of my wife's 1800 Zetec H4, we noticed that the
engine and gearbox were pushed sideways when rotating the wheel with
the suspension at full droop. Having taken the drive shaft off, it has
become apparent t
