Recently two appvms refused to start, reporting that:
VM: VM kernel does not exist: /var/lib/qubes/vm-kernels/4.4.12-9/vmlinuz
Qubes Manager shows the kernel is set to 4.4.38-11.
Using 'qvm-prefs myappvm -s kernel 4.4.38.11' fixed the issue.
The appvm templates are debian-8 and whonix-ws based.
Your whonix setup could complain about nonfree packages, even if you have
already uninstalled them: "Non-free packages with status other than installed"
VRMS error message from whonixcheck script (Whonix-Check).
The only answer I've found about what to do in this situation is "sudo apt-get

I wanted to install Mathematica for linux that is a 4 gb binary generic
blob that comes as .sh file with no adaptations to usual distributions.
First tried created a new VM depending on archlinux template. It did not
work with some errors not finding a folder or something. There is a

How do I do I make Disposable VM Firefox extensions I installed stay installed
after I close the Disposable VM and open a new one, and how do I also keep
changes to the default search engine and privacy options after I close the

i played around with salt and noticed a few things/ have some questions:
1)
even when some states fail for some vm, the cli tool displays ok. it
would be better, if it displayed error in case of an error (some errors
are displayed).

working but broke in 3.2.2.3?
