maybe your computer hardware is the reason. Or `dd` when it writes
larger ranges. I don't know.
The symptoms may vary as long as the USB stick is not properly “burned”.

your USB medium seems to be faulty. Have you checked that the image on
the USB medium matches the ISO image you have downloaded?

and try installation again.
