Yep - I think it was probably because both the local server and
mysqueezebox.com had different versions to the one that was installed on
the radio...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I never managed to get my radio to
update itself to any version. The closest I got was after a factory
reset it got to around 40% downloading an update and then crashed and
restarted itself with a 'sorry your device had to restart after a system
error'.

After the factory reset the radio actually started downloading the 7.6.1
update but it crashed at 48% and then rebooted itself (without updating

I just tried this and the problem persists unfortunately. Every time I
power up the radio it wants to 'update' to 7.6.1 but fails if I tell it
to go ahead.
The underlying problem is that the update just doesn't work. I need to
either get it to work or find a way to stop the radio
