That would be logical, yes. But what I had in fact done was uncheck,
deselect, all of the options, including the None

Cheers for the tip re: SCP - I was stumped as there was no FTP daemon

Not daft at all. Go to Settings > Advanced > Remote Login to enable
remote login. Username is root and password is 1234. From there you can
