There are no plastic contacts I am aware of. They are plugged in 24/7 but not playing most of the time apart from the kitchen radio which is on most of the time I'm home. It has the same problem though. See screeen as attached image14696.

In the Radio's Extended Settings menu there is a menu about Power that displays some measurements. One is whether the battery is loading. Don't remember what other values are there and not sure whether they are helpful in any way...

People with the Logitech brand battery have reported vmon1=4V and vmon2=8V, so it does seem that the correct connection point for vmon2 is the wire between the positive terminal of cell #6 and the negative terminal of cell #7.
