In this case doing the text-to-AIFF on the Mac is easy. So no need for sound device kludgery. This leaves the question of how to make SqueezeCenter play a file (that is not in the library) and then go back to whatever it was doing. Ideally go right back to the track position it was at in the cur

If SBS runs on same PC as automation and PC is running windows or Linux then you could use WaveInput plugin. There will be a slight audio delay. If PC automation is not on SBS server and PC is using Windows or Linux then perhaps you can use VLC to stream audio as an http stream. There will be a
