I've been using sneakers by Puma or Clarks when riding my Hillborne with
either a set of MKS Grip Kings or VP Thin Gripster pedals (which I highly
recommend!). My feet sometimes ache after a long ride in squishy shoes.
Has anyone found a stiffer soled shoe that they like with sneaker pedals?
I really like the grip from fiveten's (http://fiveten.com/) Stealth rubber
soles. I ride the heck out of a pair of Drit Bag low. I only wish they made
a shoe that looked a little less like a skate shoe or early '90s tennis
shoe.

I've ridden long hard miles without foot pain on both grip kings and VP001
in Merrell Proterra Sport shoes. I paid retail for mine, and would do it
again, though they're beginning to pop up with discounted prices around the
net. I usually ride the platform pedals centered on my arch, though
it's a question of putting energy into the pedal vs. putting energy into
straining your arch. No pendulum involved.

Pudge, I have ice-skate feet - 13 narrow. The Chrome's fit them well, and

With size 15 feet, choices are kinda limited. I have bespoke hiking boots
and walking shoes (cobbler Dan Asay out of Bishop, CA), but for bicycling
on platform shoes (now with velcro retention straps) I have found best
results with Mizuno shot-putting shoes. Flat treadless soles, minimal rise

I swear by the New Balance Minimus 20V3. They are super lightweight,
breathable, comfortable and even stylish enough. The only issue is the
durability can be a bit of an issue with some pairs, as the sole likes to

I'm on 700C wheels and they currently have studded tires entrenched for the
duration. I also order my Schwalbe rubber from a German retailer, so it
takes some commitment. The Cazaderos do sound great too, especially if I
could keep my ultrawide Berthoud fenders on with them.
