I have both. The Bean is nice and what I think of as chamois. The Riv is far more rugged and feels like it would ward off errant chain saws (that's a compliment, just to clarify). The Riv is warmer, and the color is great, too. I expect the Riv will outlast the Bean by a significant factor. ji
