I recently acquired a Roadrunner Bags Auto-Pilot which is very similar and
absolutely cavernous. Fits my Rosco Bubbe mixte quite well.

A bigger tire also changes the ride. I had BG Rock’n’Roads on my Quickbeam for
a while. I liked it, but when I went back to 38s the bike turned in a bit
quicker and was a bit more sprightly. It felt like itself.
The Singular with 38s turned in too fast, and settled down with 2” tires.

Deacon,
Autumn in Colorado also looks amazing. And your snow ride photos are
wonderful.
It looks like winter comes about a month earlier in your area than where I
live.
Snow starts to fall in about a week here, so I'll have to think about
preparing my bike for winter.

Clem's wheelbase makes Hunqapillar a dirt switchback demon by comparison.
Clem chainstay is 56 cm. Hunq used to be 46 cm (in the biggest sizes for both.)
Hunq's have gotten a bit longer, and the chainstay is now 49 cm in the biggest
size. I've ridden the older geometry Hunq and the Clem, and th
The idea of narrower studded tires got me thinking: what if the answer to my

Just wondering about clearance between nobbies and full coverage fenders;

I wonder about snow and mud clearence too, Steve. One way to find out. Grin.
The good news is I don’t have my fenders super snug to begin with as they need
room to clear detrius where I ride, so there is play in there. Here’s what
happened on a mud ride earlier this year with Barlow Pass tires.
FWIW, Hunqapillars are built by Waterford with heat-treated MUSA steel tubing.
I'm no metallurgist nor am I a frame builder so I don't really know what
heat-treating does for a frame. I read an article (or maybe an interview) in
which Grant talks about heat-treated vs. non heat-treated tubing r
My Clem L seems pretty stout. I'd be surprised if the Hunq has thicker tubes, I
think it's more a matter of different designs creating different types of bikes
with a lot of crossover in abilities.

i read that its not safe to ride with cantis and knobbies without fenders. So
make sure you go slicks if you ever take off the fenders. Guessing you already

It's the straddle cable falling into the knobs fear. Someone used to sell
-- in fact, perhaps Rivendell sold -- a little arm that bolted to the crown
and projected forward between straddle wire and tire; I had one myself, and
may even have installed it on one bike.
But, as Eamon says, cantis and k
