All Sackville bags are waterproof. You probably don't need a Bartube if you
already have a bag on a front rack, but I've used one with a ShopSack in a
basket. I like the convenience of the basic essentials being in a separate
small bag I can transfer easily to whichever bike I grab.

Are they waterproof?
I've wanted one, but alas, I use a Berthoud GB25 up front and a sprung saddle
in back... but they are gorgeous...

There was a time several years back when Grant/Riv questioned the conventional
“low rider is better” wisdom. Grant wrote a pretty lengthy piece on it. This
was probably 2005-ish. I’d bet it’s out there somewhere. I’m sure someone at
Riv must have it.
Cheers,

Wow nice find! Looks like it I should indeed the high rider. Anyone have any
experience with it? Love the lines on it and was hoping to set up my Atlantis
with it for touring...

Bill, I think that's it. I remember asking at Rivendell about this rack.
I liked the idea that it didn't extend below the drop outs, but questioned
what it did to handling with a load. The conventional wisdom being to keep
the front bags low and this clearly raises them quite a ways.
Still got this

Awesome and inspiring. I only have one fixed gear at the moment, and now I’m
considering building that ENO for the Frances, and selling the S2 kickback to
fund a black Paul hub for the Quickbeam. I sold the OH QB wheels to a friend
for his new vintage Bob Jackson build.

Yo Deacon, is this your first foray into fixed riding in general? Or into
fixed along trails?
In either case you might enjoy

Rivendell called it the Hi-Rider or something like that. It’s not been
available at Riv for a few years at least. It is definitely Nitto.

Hi, does anyone know what front rack this is? My guess is it's definitely
Nitto.
I thought it was the big front rack, but it’s not quite it. It also seemed
very similar to the big back rack but note quite either (and I don’t even
know if that’s possible). Any clue?

I have one of the old Baggins ones, brass & leather. These are super
useful if you travel & can't expect a rental bike to have any bags. If you
can find a Baggins, I can attest to them wearing forever & thriving on
neglect. I would expect the Brand V or whatever they are now to be
similarly
Apparently y'all aren't buying these fabulous bags so Riv has stopped making
them. I have one that travels with me from bike to bike: holds phone, wallet,
keys, reading glasses, patch kit and a mini pump, with room leftover for an
extra pair of maybe-it'll-get-cold-later gloves. Hook-and-loop
One of the reasons he states for closing the business is later and later
winters. That freaked me out.

Hey all -
Clearing out some stuff and I have a Sackville SlickerSack and Nitto
Platrack Combo for sale. Asking $240 and would prefer a bay area exchange
to avoid shipping.

Aye, Brian. I was contemplating on today’s ride how my average pace hasn’t
changed much, but I’m decidedly faster in some places and decidedly slower in
others (down hills). It’s fun to take it slowish down a hill that has a climb
after and release to gain momentum for the climb ahead. Slower
Andy, that’s my newish (9 months?) Hilltrek Cotton Analogy be-seen-red smock.
Same jacket type I’ve had for years, but this is more visable because I now
ride to the trail heads instead of needing my wife to haul me there — all
because of mini-healing.
With abandon,

If I didn't already have both a Clem and a MTBubbe (build forthcoming), I'd
be all over this. I think the 51cm size would fit really nicely as a
drop-bar bike, and the silver color is very classy. Good luck with the
sale, and as Bob mentioned, maybe try again in the new year to see if

Hi Marc.
Glad you're feeling better, physically. The scenery would help anyone's
mental state. Just beautiful!
I think we have nearly matching twin bikes. I like your descriptive
"creamy." It's just as wonderful cruisin' as faster riding.
I hope your sciatica stays away.
