[RBW] Gus or Susie, am I crazy?

2021-12-04 Thread Ryan Frahm
Hello all! Long time Riv admirer. But, I always hesitate long enough to miss out on buying one. I ride a Chumba Ursa mountain bike. It tows my daughter, grocery runs, any trail ever. I ride the bike mellow in my opinion, but I’ve been told maybe I’m more aggressive than I feel. Jumps are

[RBW] WTB - 700c SS Wheelset for Quickbeam

2021-12-04 Thread Sean Steinle
Starting the search for a nice wheelset for my quickbeam. 700c, 120mm rear spacing. This is my only bike so I'd like to do it up right, maybe some Phil hubs. I'm a lightweight rider, only 130 lbs, so don't want anything too overkill on spoke count, probably 32h. Thanks! Sean -- You received

About 15 years ago I bought a new Saluki, very pale green. The bike was a 56cm, same as my custom but was too big. I sold it barely used and when the Bleriot was available got a 55CM. It seemed fine but after a 10 year layoff due to back surgery and fear of riding and injuring my back

Hi Al, I understood what you wrote just fine, I just flipped around the models when I typed out my response. Bikeinsights is a definitely a good resource. I wish they listed the stack and reach for these bikes—the very slack seat tube angle on these models distorts the ETT quite a bit. Still,

Ahh, yes, thank you for the clarification. I can easily see the confusion with how I worded it. Bill, you are correct, the Susie/Gus will be notably longer with their reach. I could never quite get comfortable on my Jones due to feeling too cramped. This is not a problem with Gus/Susie,

I interpreted Al's comment to mean that the Jones will be *shorter* than a Rivendell Gus/Susie, not the other way around. The effective TT lengths and front center dimensions for the Gus and Susie should be about the longest of any bikes anywhere, because they are imagining you would want to

Hi Al, Do you think the Riv’s cockpit is really that much shorter than the Jones’s? It’s hard to understand this when both companies hide their geo charts. I was pretty comfy on my Jones with their bar and a 90mm or so stem. This might make think more about the 56cm Slugstone. Eric On

Hey Eric, You may recall that my numbers are just a couple inches more than yours and I own/owned an XL/60cm Gus and a 59 Susie. I would comfortably recommend either one of those larger sizes for you, especially if you are riding Jones bars. I know you already know this, but it's worth

Hi Keith, Good question on the bars. I would likely use either a Jones bar or a VO Curvy (similar to the Nitto Wavie). I’m probably aiming for a little more upright position—this won’t be my bike for hard charging. Eric On Friday, December 3, 2021, iamkeith wrote: > What type of handlebar do
