I don't live on the peninsula, but what I understand is that there's only
four ways to get off Foster City:
- 3rd Ave
- Fashion Island Blvd
- Hillsdale Ave
- Beach Park Blvd
And of those, only 3rd and Beach Park (via O'Neill Crossing near Ralston)
have any affordances for bikes.
Years ago, my company had an office in Foster City and then in San Mateo. I
kept a bike there for use when I visited. (Telecommuting before it was
fashionable.) I mostly did commuting and running errands, so I might not be
so helpful in avoiding busy streets. (For fun, it's worth seeing the

I had a Clem H and my wife has the same size Clem L. I noticed right away
there were a few differences; the L has a longer top tube, longer front

I purchased a Clem H in 2017 after really digging my wife's L. I would've

I have used Albatross as follows --
110mm Tallux on a XL Crust Lightning Bolt with bar end shifter.
85mm FacePlater on a 59 Atlantis with shifter mounted to the stem.
Both stems felt right for the specific bike. You may end up having to buy
twice. Keep the other stem around for future projects!
