Oh wow, great report, Eric! Thanks for sharing it. I'm with everyone else
when I say it made me want to hop on the bike and go for a long one.

Hi Richard,
Thank-you for sharing exactly where you are located in Ohio.
I want to get a double - legged Pletscher kick stand in silver sometime
down the road for my Clem. I had one on my Salsa LHT. It was really nice.
Enjoy.

Hello Riv List. I often plan rides for my non-racing bike friends. Many of
them are Riv riders and a few even post here. This Saturday I"m doing a
fun, casual ride around L.A. to eat donuts, talk music, and nerd out on
bicycles. The description I posted to my friends is below. Thanks!

Ohio, yes. Toledo specifically. The Masi and other road bike pics are of bikes
in my temporary custody. I am trying to sell them for a deceased friends
daughters. The Masi did sell.

Thanks for sending the excerpts, Eric! Super interesting to read Grant’s
thoughts so early on. That was the seed that led to him to the wild idea of
designing and then manufacturing his own low normal RDs.

Also open to a 90mm Pearl. I don’t necessarily need the longer quill of the
Technomics, so If you have a Pearl that would work out just fine.

Hi Doug,
I thank-you for sharing a picture of your Clem Smith Jr. "L" bicycle. Looks
really cool.
Yes, I, too, have been riding mostly on asphalt pavement. However, I will
be riding on dirt trails soon, building back my strength.
It is nice to know that this bike is an ATB. Just what I wanted.
Hi Richard,
I thank-you so much for sharing a picture of your Clem Smith Jr. "L"
bicycle with the option of seeing more on your Instagram account. It is
very comforting to know that we are both seniors and share the expressions
of comfort and love of this bicycle in many ways. You have experien

need of this beautiful example of Nitto craftsmanship? Thanks,

Of course I missed something. I’d ideally like to sell the bike as a

That's my own home made decaleur. My handlebar bag has Ortlieb Pannier
hardware bolted to it and my decaleur presents a bar for the pannier
hardware to hand onto.
I did not bend the stays on the 32F. The unmodified 32F fit directly on my
fork, as intended.

El Cerrito,
Catch and release for this one. I bought it from a list memeber a few weeks
back hoping to fit it on my new (to me) Trek 520 SS. I mistakenly didn't
measure the distance between my saddle rack, and unfortunately this one is
too short.
I bought for $155 shipped, offering it here for the same pri
I am 66 and 5 months - reached SS "full retirement age" last month but I am
still riding drops and flat bars (and working). Riding upright is the most
uncomfortable thing for me. Drops and flat bars takes some weight off of my
butt - I am overweight. I hate the "tippy" feeling of sitting upright
IMO Paul brake levers are 100% worth the cost. On a bike, the brake lever
is a high human touchpoint. For me the user experience with the PL is so
high, no matter the build, if I can afford it, I would always spec PL's.

Hi rmro,
I turned 67 this past April.
I have yet to take it off road and find out what type of animal it is;
meaning how it handles.
Have you taken your Clem off road ?
I am growing to love it more and more each time I ride it.
What color is your Clem Jr. L ?
Do you have pictures to share ?

Hi,
I noticed that shorter stems felt better. I measured my height and I think I
lost an inch or more (I’m 59). So, the shorter stem makes since, but my saddle
height hasn’t changed.
Before the pandemic my favorite bike had the bars about 4” lower than the
saddle. At the end of the ride, it fel
Congrats on your acquisition of a Clem. I got mine last January & turned 67 in
