Man that's a nice bike, I miss the old flat-toptube Toyo and Waterford
frames. I personally like the stem but maybe it needs to be longer to
stretch those bars away from you a little more, being too close might be
why they feel narrow. But I'd ride it a bit first, the fit may work out for

I will occasionally dismount that way. I first saw it in a youtube video
with Bike Snob. He dismounts that way at the beginning.

You gals make it look so easy. Thanks for taking the time to record & post.
There's a Dutch couple on an around the world trip that posts videos on
youtube. They are perhaps mid-30s. They use the same method with high top
tube bikes loaded with 4 panniers, rack bags, front bags, all sorts of

Proud to say I do both of these techniques!
Even at 30 I'm not too keen on trying to "step thru" if I can help it, lol.
Usually with the mount I'll start my pedal at 12 o'clock and stand up on
the pedal to get moving then swing my leg through the frame, as opposed to
starting it at 6 o'lock an
I did it! The dismount thing wasn't near as graceful as you but I didn't
fall down and end up lying in the street like a fool who can't get off his
own bike. I call that a win!

Thanks everyone for sharing, this is fun! Someday I'll get a film camera...
Shawn, that color pic of inside the Riv shop is great. The shadows are
beyond real.

Hands down the most beautiful, jewelry like rear derailleur ever made, IMHO. I had a complete set on my PX10 around 1980. Lovely.Sent from my iPhoneOn Feb 11, 2023, at 11:44 AM, Luke Hendrickson wrote:I think that it’s positively beautiful and that it’d be fun to track down the corresponding Hure
Hello Mike with the Bob Jackson. Nice looking bike. What front cable hanger
is that? I never seen one like it before.

I’ve got it done. I’ll wait for Roberta to post hers tonight and then I’ll follow with my method. I told her, “We have to reach the guys to ride mixtes! It’s our sacred RivSister duty!” You’ll have two examples tonight. ❤️Sent from my iPhoneOn Feb 11, 2023, at 6:12 PM, Joe Bernard wrote:Hand one
Hand one of them boys your phone and let's see! I'm not sure I can actually
pull off the acrobatics you and Roberta are doing but it could be fun
falling down trying 🤣

When Roberta posts her nifty mounting method I’m going to post my
one-of-a-kind DISmounting method. I just gotta convince someone to video it
for me….

I need this video! It's kinda silly that I have a droptube bike and still
try to swing my creaky old-guy leg over the back like it's a diamond frame.
Do you know how many times I've kicked that taillight on the rack and sent
lens and batteries flying?? A bunch of times!

Yes, two beautiful bikes. That Samson is ridiculous! Kind of makes me want to try something similar with a J.P. Weigle I have access to. I have not done so because the Clem L I have been riding for a little over a year & just shy of 4K miles is simply the best riding bike I’ve ever owned. There may
Hi Garth,
Here are your requested measurements of my MKS Monarch platform pedal with
extensions:
*front to back: 5 1/8"
*side to side edges: 5 3/4"
*distance outside of crank arm to the outside of the pedal body: 3/4"
*thickness of the pedal with spikes included: 7/8"

Yeah, a buddy gave me the Berthoud (it’s from the first 400 made and was
nearly unridden). I really like it so far and had my first all day ride on
it earlier this week without much issue.
Ha! Yeah, I felt like my bike looked too vanilla when I changed from mtb
tires and was getting a lot of

I built a bike around a hub, but the hub include the gears. I'll be very
interested in the final result; please post build specs and photos.

Luke, I like that Atlantis! Beautiful build too. I see you have also
discovered Berthoud saddles. Looks like you went with Honjo fenders to
cover those big Scwalbe G-Ones? Thanks

Hey Kim, could you please measure if possible the actual platform width and
length overall(front to back, side to side platform edges), plus the
distance from the outside crank arm to the outside of the body ? Also the
overall body thickness, spikes to included ?
Thank you !
