That is funny! There is some insistence early on to get the ones we are
close to involved with our cycling lifestyle. Fixed up a bike for a crazy
girlfriend way back when from a bike I bought used with a bent fork.
Replaced the fork. She may have rode it once or twice. I don't remember. We

Thanks for the geometry chart Garth. The 58 size details on that seem to

Michael, the tires on our Santana were 27" @ 28 mm wide mounted on 48 spoke
wheels front/rear. We punctured only once in just under 2,000

Glacier NP. Quite a machine that was. We never touched our tool set.

Skinny tires on those tandems! Times have changed. Seems like a lot of
bike for those tires.

I think we should stick to the Asheville area for the main ride. I know
Wilson Creek is beautiful. I've hiked there. I ride fully loaded and am
not into hiking a bike. Mine is too heavy. I think we should shoot for a

I'm building my son his first "grown up bike", a 13" Trek 950 Singletrack
frame and am raising money for the build.
First up are Davinci cranks. These are 170mm and 104 BCD. You can order
different spiders from Davinci. These are light, strong, and beautiful.
Billeted and made in the USA.
Congrats, Paul, that's a nice ride!
Thanks for the pics!

Oh, and one other detail I forgot to mention is that there's a really nice
campground at Bent Creek - although it fills up pretty quickly in the
summer. Lots of chain hotels around Bent Creek too.

The Wilson Creek area is beautiful - but is pretty remote and about 1.5 hrs
from Asheville. Closer to Asheville there are some great fire roads and
mellow singe track at Bent Creek Experimental Forest that is connected to
the NC Arboretum. I ride there all the time and it is just about perfect

Not exactly the data point you were looking for, but I run nominal 700x40
WTB Nanos on my green Rambouillet. I use Paul Racer M brakes on that bike
to achieve max clearance, so it may be similar to what you have on a
Canti-rom. The tires measure out around 37.5mm on narrow Velocity Aerohead

What’s the crank length?

I have a different perspective. First, when I was growing up, I prized my
