Thanks for mentioning that! I’m up in Montreal frequently during the summers I
spend in the Adirondacks, and I didn’t know about it. Looks fun.

I’ve been hiking more, and I’m finding tons more trail riders than previously.
I’ve noticed that those riders expect me to move off the trail into the weeds
to make space and that I can smell their “slipstream” for several minutes after
they pass. Just sayin.

Leah—
I got mine (a demo) in April, 2018. It’s the sage color, and it’s a 50cm. I’m
not entirely certain when it would’ve been made; maybe someone else might,
based on color and timing of shipments.

The first bike I tried when I visited Riv was the Cheviot I purchased. I’d
ridden the same Specialized road bike always, and I’d bonded with it
profoundly, but I hadn’t ridden a bike much in a long time. I tried a Surly
Long Haul Trucker—and really wanted to love it—but thought it felt really
Keeping this in mind:
Half of the overall cases are expected within a period of a few weeks, with 95%
in a period of around 10 weeks.

The flu vaccine is designed to produce “herd immunity.” Those weakest and
immune-compromised cannot take the vaccine. The rest of us get the vaccine to
shield babies, the sick, and the elderly. The more people protected, the lower
the spread. “The” flu isn’t always the “same” flu, which is why
“I keep hearing "10-20 times more deadly than the flu" and then "80% of
infected people are invisible because they are untested and asymptomatic."
Those two statements seem to not make sense together except to say we have yet
to understand what is happening.”
The issue is that people do not

PM me, if you would. I believe there are 2 sizes of the Beinn 20–one “S” and on
“L.” You can let me know how much you want for it.
Thanks to you all for the suggestions. I’m looking into some of the other
options (Woom 4, Prevelo, Cleary Hedgehog) generously mentioned. The grandsons

This post died long ago, but I’m hoping to address all of you who got one of
these long enough ago that your kids might have outgrown.
If anyone has a red Islabikes Beinn 20S that I could buy, I sure would love to
find one for my grandson’s 5th birthday this month.

Dan— I really loved that dramatic installation video; it gives me a solid idea
of the process involved, plus, I realize that if I’m going to ever replace my
finger up bumper, that would be the right time to do it. I think that hitch
system may be more elegant than the one at Mini Mania—though
I called Rivbikes a couple of days ago, cause I’ve been searching fruitlessly
for a used medium Sackville, and wanted to see if they had one kicking around.
The Sackville saddle sack line is, apparently, being redesigned, and the new
smalls will be closer in size to the old mediums. I believe
Brian— I did the same thing once, at a hotel, late at night after a long drive.
I had two bikes on top, and the prized Bianchi of my boyfriend at the time—this
very trip finished us off—caught the parking area overhang. Somehow, maybe I
wasn’t going fast, I think nothing major happened, but it
Thanks Minh and Joe. Mine’s a 2015 4-door Cooper S. Thanks to Joe, I have a
good lead on an (expensive) retrofit that will accept a Yakima Single Speed
1-bike hitch-mount, which I hope won’t stick out too far...
The Mini of Marin dealers told me there was nothing to be done, but the

I’m the happy owner of a new 50cm Cheviot, and am struggling to figure out how
to safely transport it on my Mini Cooper. I have what I think is the only bike
rack that works on my car—a Saris Bones. Apparently, unless it comes built for
a hitch, Mini’s can’t be fitted with anything else.
I’ve
Following up on Clayton’s wish that gasoline-powered cars were a thing of the
past: Traveling in England last year, on narrow, hedgerow-lined one lane roads,
I thought about how much more scary it would be if all the cars in the road
were electric and silent. I’m sure I’d have been hit,
