I could be wrong but that brass dome looks too big for the original Silver1
(and Suntour Sprint) downtube/bar-end shifters. I know this piece will
work, I recommend calling Riv before ordering the brass one (which I think
only fits the Silver2 thumbshifter).

They're both the bee's knees. The long platform of the GKs works great

I'm going to disagree with this. In my curve-bar days I tried M-bars
and Noodles on the same stem, and found the reach to the curved
portion of the Ms to "feel" further away than the hoods of the
Noodles. I suspect this has something to do with the hands being
placed in a different plane. Plus, I'v

They're not built anywhere NEAR as well as a comparable Atlantis or
Hunqapillar. I'd love to have one, but 1800 is bonkers. If you're walking
around with that kind of bike money, a production Riv in need of a few of the
parts you have laying around is a much better choice.

still there. Most of these lost their stems and bi-plane forks for a

I think once you've spent some serious money on one or more production
Rivendells, the need for one more that's way more money, but not demonstrably
"better", fades. Production Rivs are already handbuilt and super awesome. I'd
be much more likely to fancy-up my production bike with a Joe Bell pa

Hmm, that's a good idea. I had it mounted to a q/r without a rack, and
it drooped down in the rear in relation to its seatpost strap because
it moved the bag back and down so much. I can see where a rack would
have solved that. Of course, I solved it by ditching the q/r, but
there ya go..
I have a trike, too, a Greenspeed GT3. Every rider should try one.

I sold my Romulus to convert to recumbents. Bought a couple of 2-wheelers,
then a trike, sold the 2-wheel bents, now resupplying with a few Craigslist
"upright" bikes, and thinking about getting a Hunqapillar or Sam. I'm
keeping the trike!

Too tight. If it only "indexed" at the straight-ahead position, you'd
probably have a bigger problem, but tight all the way through the range of
motion is a tight headset. If you have the wrenches, back off the locknut,
loosen the headset cup a quarter turn, then hold that baby steady while you
that pesky "function"
criteria. Whatever.
So..I'm 5'-7", 170 lbs., 79PBH, probably on a 48cm with either model.
Short-to-medium around-town hops, lightly loaded saddlebag, gentle fireroad
potential. What say yous alls?

Yep, that's a tough one for me. I prefer 26-inch wheels, and have a nice set
ready to transfer from my CB-Zip to the Hunqapillar (sorry, I can't bring
myself to say "Hunqa". Reminds me of an Elvis song).

It's a 135 8-speed, not the original CB-Zip wheel. I believe the Sam and
Hunqapillar are both 135, but I'll double check.
