LB always makes me want one. She sold me on the Brompton and three years
later, it would still win the "you only get to keep one bicycle" contest.
Now I really want a Clementine. But I already have a Retrovelo, which was
why I went for a Cheviot instead.
Curse you, Velouria. I want one.

I have a Tubus Logo Evo on my Cheviot. I really like the lower pannier
rails. I have actually ordered one to replace the custom rack that I have
always hated on my Retrovelo.

I wound up that way because the shop either did not know better or did not
care. Neither is a good answer. It would be one thing if I had insisted on
the tire/fender combo used, but they picked it out, not me. I personally
love SKS fenders, and the breakaway doohickeys are awesome. I've never ha

This is just a question, not trying to stir up trouble. How many donors did
you have from car occupants who also would have been saved by a helmet?

Who can resist the helme(n)t war?
I was hit by a car. My helmet was cracked in two. I had no head injury. I'm
damn glad I was wearing it. But this was a road ride, where I was actually
trying to keep my average speed at around 17mph for 62 miles. I'm going to
wear a helmet in that case.

I had a similar crash to Jan's, except that I was not descending and the
car passed someone on a curve. It's just a worst nightmare scenario, one

I don't get the Marathon hate. I put them on my "road" bike (an 80s
Shogun). I used to go on weekly rides with roadies. Everyone else rode
skinny road tires. I had no trouble keeping up and I never got a flat. We
had at least three flats in the group on every ride.

snatched it up!
I have new fenders (SKS) that I will be installing this weekend, and it
will finally be ridable. As is, I've been terrified every single ride.

Despite owning a Retrovelo, which is a beautiful lugged loop frame with Fat

I love it. Another "I didn't stand my ground" decision that is going to
cost me. I don't need a triple. I will NEVER use that big ring. NEVER. So
even if it WAS worn, it would not matter. I shifted up to it once, to make
sure the FD worked (it didn't, but it didn't shift DOWN the small ring that

I want to, but having just bought a Cheviot, I need to not spend another
$2k right now. I also know that I have to immediately replace the front
wheel -- no dynamo, no deal. And I don't need a triple. I'm basically never
going to use the big ring. So the $400 saved is gone.
Yeah, I still want
For me a dynamo hub is non negotiable, so that rules out most complete bikes.

No shit. Who on earth decided that was a good idea? I rode down a curb last
night and the front fender scraped. Not cool. I'm taking them to Aaron's
and getting them moved. I'll stick a Rat City Bike Shop sticker over the
hole and be done with it.
Note to self: GIVE UP on the metal fenders. I s

They did not pull the fenders off. They are still on the bike. I pretty
much hate the fenders. Every pebble, bit of gravel, grain of sand makes a
very irritating noise. To date, the metal fenders on my 40 year old Raleigh
