For what it's worth, I've always pronounced it bow-sahzhe, not that I recall ever saying it out loud. Paul B. Cooley Santa Fe, NM http://carfreefamily.blogspot.com On Feb 21, 2009, at 1:16 PM, colin p. cummings wrote: Perhaps I'm nitpicking or my mind is too loosely fettered, but mulling ove

With just a strap around the upright, it just slides off the rack, pivoting around the upright. There is a slot in the bottom for a strap, but it does not line up well -- it's parallel to the line of the bike, so it would take twisting the strap around to go on the crossbar of the rack. Usin

[RBW] Re: Has Anyone Tried OYB bags?

2009-02-20 Thread Paul Cooley
The distance between the handlebars and the rack on my Rivendell made it so the bag wouldn't sit on the rack when it was strapped to the handlebars, and when I tried just to strap it to the rack, it slopped around. I already had the Velo Orange rack though, so I didn't work very hard to make

No, it just has a regular platform. There's pictures on my Rivendell photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44745...@n00/sets/72157611786912729/ I've been talking to Jeff at OYB, and I think with his "osage stick" option, it will fit into the space. Paul B. Cooley Santa Fe, NM http://carf

"Yves Gomez" is a little offputting, though I don't know who he is. My imagination jumps immediately to Gomez from the Adams Family, but that's because my kids just watched the movie. Has "Velocio?" been taken. A good bike tribute to Velocio would be in order. And I wouldn't mind a "Coli

2009-02-05 Thread Paul Cooley
I noticed something similar when I used to have a Nexus hub. At least I think I remember experiencing something similar. But it seems odd to me that the hub would have any effect on the braking. And no, I haven't noticed a difference between when the lights are on. I'll try to pay a li

[RBW] Throbbing When Braking

2009-02-05 Thread Paul Cooley
The brakes that is, not me. I recently put a new front wheel with SON hub on my Rivendell. Now, when I brake, there is a very distinct throbbing feel in the brake lever. It feels like one spot on the rim is grabbing more than the rest. What would cause that? Peter White built the whee

[RBW] Non-Aero Hood Replacements?

2009-01-30 Thread Paul Cooley
I took my original non-aero brake levers off my Rivendell a few years ago because the hoods were disintegrating, and I had some aero levers in my parts drawer off another bike. I've decided to replace my brakes with the wide-profile Tektros, and that has me thinking about putting my non-a

I just took and posted a few photos of my wiring. The wiring photos are at the end of the photo set. Sure, there are probably neater ways to route the wire, but this way works fine for me and will give you an idea of what this routing looks like. By the way, I like having the wired tailli

I've been through so many trailers! Now, I use my Xtracycle for most utility hauling. I have a bicycle-based beekeeping business, and for that, I use the Bikes-At-Work trailer. My kids ride on the Xtracycle and I haul all my honey to the Farmer's Market on the trailer. It's a heavy loa

I just set my SON hub up. I have an eDelux attached to a Velo Orange front rack, and I run the wire for the taillight from the headlight, down the downtube, along the chainstay and fender stay and up to the light. I did use a few black zip ties. I think two on the downtube, two on the c

I've had quiet freewheels in the past. I always thought they were on the verge of failure, but there was never a problem with them. As for pedestrians, use a bell. Paul B. Cooley Santa Fe, NM http://carfreefamily.blogspot.com On Jan 26, 2009, at 4:36 PM, k5osx wrote: I have a phil 'riv'
