I like Bill’s description of a mechanical varsity maneuver for setting up cantilevers. It took me forever back in the day to set up Mafac cantilevers on my Alan cyclocross bike. Trial and error and you may work out how to do it. In my experience with cantilever brakes at present (n=1 bike), I set

Like you, I’m also a fan of Miche cassettes because of the ability to
customize their gear ratios with all 10 cogs being loose. They make a good
product, and I also look for a high gear of no less than 14 teeth.

I’m a fan of the Shimano PD-T8000 pedals, which I use on my so-called
gravel bike, which is just a Surly Cross-Check. I got the pedals new for
about $90.00, not the suggested retail price of $130.00.

What about cutting the cable off flush and drilling down with a fine drill
bit partway into the cable head and tapping it with a hammer, or perhaps
using a very fine nail as a tap, holding it with pliers and striking the
nail with a hammer. Have you tried soaking it in boiling water?

The Nitto FW30 by Bluelug looks like exactly what I need for a build. Does
anyone know if this is stocked by anyone in the USA? The shipping cost from
