This is super! I have some Albastaches I've been sort of avoiding wrapping for
a while 'cause I'm generally terrible at it. I'm going to try this.

Both! I wrap from the end to the brake lever and from the stem to the brake
lever. No twine or tucking necessary. Works especially well if doing a weave.

Agreed regarding thick cork tape not playing nice with the tuck and plug
method. But sounds like Rivet has sized their plug specifically to allow this
so like Philip suggested I’d give it go with their recommended method first and
see how it works for you.
One thing I found for direction of
I’d follow their directions and see how it goes. I wrap end-to-stem, inward
toward the bike (I think - I did it today, but I always have to look at the
bike to make sure). For a while I did the trick where you wrap ends-to-levers,
and stem-to-levers, but the only advantage was no “finish” tape
or you and your

Back in the nearly forgotten days of my youth I recall wrapping bar tape
from the stem to towards the end, tucking a bit in the end and finishing
with a bar plug. But for years now (since I started using cork) I've been
wrapping the other direction and finishing with tape or twine. I figure the
