Meade,
Was that 98F on the cyclo-computer? If so I know that feeling, Saturday
rode 40 miles in near 100F weather drank lots of water. Great ride
description and all the pics were fantastic.

Wow! I've always wanted to cross by a hand propelled ferry. Each time we
read about it in one of our daughter's pioneer books I'm always curious.
Now we know where to go, if we can time it right for the ferry's sporadic
schedule. Grin. Great looking, though too hot for me, ride!

on a 35-mi ride yesterday, we stopped for fresh peaches at a shady roadside
stand. It was like manna from heaven.
We made a pilgrimage to a country bike shop to see a really nice Hetchins.
And yes, there was also a brewpub on the way home.

Great photos and write-up. We are still waiting for the cicadas in my part of

The cicadas in Albemarle Co., as seen in various pics here
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cwmcmillen/ (Albemarle Co., not cicadas) have been
deafening in places. They've yet to emerge fully but when I first began to
really hear them a couple of weeks ago it was creepy--as if being followed.

Not necessarily. There are large areas that have been skipped this year

Yup, that was 98 degrees on the computer but may not have been the
official temperature of the day but it was at least the lower 90s and the
first scorcher with humidity. I had a gallon cooler filled with ice then
