Wow, the Mermaid color looks great in your photos, Christian (especially
the first).

Welcome to the PlatyPose Posse, Christian,
I love the story and love the bike. I got mine last year (First ever Riv)
and I'm still making adjustments to it. I love the ride. I wish you many
happy miles on it and look forward to hearing about your racing adventures
like Leah.

Thanks Leah! I've been using this bike for all of the above. I have other
bikes for those specific use cases, but I always end up riding my Platypus
since it''s my favorite.

To be fair to Joe - which I am also always willing to do - he did say no
one should remove the accessories.
Someone in another thread posted a 29.x pound Platy, but stated that they
had gone for a light weight build.
So I was trying to encourage posts with all the goodies for a typical
weight.
"Don’t listen to Joe - it’s not a contest. "
Well to be fair to me - which I'm always willing to do - I said people
*shouldn't
*take all the good stuff off to reduce weight. But you could. But you
shouldn't!

Not that shocking. Those sound like reasonable numbers for reasonably
equipped bikes.
We’ve been conditioned by the racing crowd to think that lighter weight is
somehow “good”, and we should pay gobs of $$$ for it.
What really counts is whether you enjoy the ride.
Thanks for the data points!
Thanks, Kate!
Nice set-up. Don’t listen to Joe - it’s not a contest.
It gives my wife more ammunition, though.

Not bad at all. You could lose 4-5 pounds off that bike easy without the
rack, dyno and lights. Which no one should do!

Yay Leah,
I love the new Platy and of course the #PlatyPosing we have been waiting
for. The colors shine. I'm not that hard core either. I purchased a wool
hat with flaps from RandiJo but haven't ventured into the cold windy air
to ride yet. Catch me around March and I'll be there. Til
Yup.
Pretty please with sugar on top will you weigh that bike?
Better yet, both bikes. Peppermint Platy, and Stealth Platy.
Thanks in advance.

How heavy are they? Will somebody (or everybody) who owns a Platypus
*please* take it to your LBS, get it weighed, and post the number?
My wife, who rides a 35 pound aluminum KTM Sorrento touring bike and wants
a Platypus, would really like to know.

I'm with you, Joe. Leah, "legs-of-steel," has me beat. I was working
pretty hard to keep my Platy aloft while my photographer took her sweet
time getting several shots. A squat would have been out of the question!
Riding more would definitely help.

She's the strong one. If I got that low they'd eventually find me: "How did
he end up on the ground with a bike on top of him??" 樂藍

Good photos.
Leah, this one with the dog held in place by a cargo net particularly
caught my eye, because it reminds me of carrying 2 energetic (not to say
neurotic) Shi Tzu in a milk crate bolted to a tandem rear carrier. I had
lashed the dogs in place with shortened leashers, but the female,
Leah, those are such great photos of your dog in the basket and wonderful
memories for you, no doubt. And look how little the wee one is on the
trailer! Now he's riding his own Riv. What a legacy. Thanks for

Leah, wouldn't you say your white dog was one of the original #RivDoggos?
I remember photos of him/her in your basket on the Clem or was it Betty Foy?

Am I sensing another trend incoming with #rivdoggos?
Someone (myself?) needs to start a spinoff thread, I can only image what we
could come up with!

Lovely, Joyce.
You are giving Leah a run for her money with your true head to toe
coordination.I'm not so organized!
Happy riding to everyone!

Also, you are all so adorable that I think Grant has to see this. I emailed him
the link; I’m sure he will get an absolute kick out of all these ladies
hoisting their Platys in the air in color-coordinating outfits. I just love
this so much. You’re making my summer.

Oh my word, WOOO, Ladies! We must keep this thread alive forever! The
more, the better. Fantastic shots - and your outfits are coordinated with your
bikes, it would seem. Long live the Platypus and the fabulous owners who ride
them.
I’ll try and get a #PlatyPose this week!

Kate - you get to post as many #Platyposes as you want, and keep them coming.
You are a fabulous pair. I’m so glad your bike is as great as you hoped. “I
can’t stop riding it” is exactly my sentiment. Best bike in the line!
Also, Kate coined our term #PlatyPosing.

I could spend an entire weekend staring at that orange Wilbury. Wow. I
would say the same about Leah's Platy, but let's be honest, I already
(cumulatively) have.
