Thanks for the ride report, Collin. One of these days, I may do the exact
same ride myself (I'm in Oakland also). I've been to some of those places
but not by bike.

Thanks for sharing Collin! I really enjoyed the pictures and report. Could
you post the route you took? I'd like to get down to that area for a trip
sometime.

Patrick, that's just where the panniers fit on the rack. The combination of
the small bags and the long wheelbase really send them back there. Bigger
panniers, the likes of Arkel or ortleib, would probably look a little more
normal.
Marc, I'm bummed I didn't come across Chuck's maps during my
Congrats on the successful trip and thanks for sharing, the report and the
photos!
Your Clem looks ready for more action. Anything you'd change on your packing
list? It looks like you were pretty well dialed in.

Keith,
I mapped it out on mapmyride
here: https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/1961576156. It doesn't include

Collin,
That's a great write-up, I definitely would be interested in getting a
detailed route from you. I'm in Reno, and have been wondering how to get
some more touring in locally, preferably with less traffic.
I have a Surly Disc Trucker with panniers front (lowrider) and rear. I

Great trip and write up, Collin! Good call on the water. I’ve taken to bringing
5-6 28oz bottles, leaving 2-3 empty when I know the next water is reachable,
otherwise I drink heavy at the source and load up. Fun and intreaguing way to

Oh yeah, I managed to get 5 bottles on there for about 4 liters of water
carrying capacity. There was a section of about 70 miles with no water
where I almost ran out! Hopefully there is snow, we just had our first big
storm of the year with another on its way this week.

That fourth bottle probably comes in handy in such dry country. Should be
snow up there by now.
