When the blue rams were made, most tires labled 35 were actually 32 or
less. I know I was a bit disappointed when I discovered that a "35" tire
that was barley 31 maxed out the Honjo fenders. Of course the SKS fenders
are more forgiving.

My Kojaks were made much later than my blue Ram. I doubt that the Kojaks
measured the full 35 mm, but they were certainly at least 32 mm, and there
was plenty of open space around crown and bridges. Older Open Pro rims.

Super nice. My orange one could only take 32s and fenders but there is a
little known secret about orange: Not only is it the fastest color, it also
rides a full tire size up.

Congratulations! The story gets better and better with each new chapter.
Get the 559 brakes:

I have these + jack browns + fenders on my Ram, and all is good.

My blue Ram would take 35s (at least, marked so -- Kojaks) and fenders.

My blue Ram "fits" Jack Browns and SKS Long Boards under Tektro 539s but I
wasn't very comfortable with the tight spacing.
I"ll go to smaller tires before I remount the fenders.

Welcome to the club. Beautiful bike, and in amazingly good condition for
its age. Jack Brown's are great tires but different vintages of Rams seem
to have slightly different tire clearances. I couldn't run JBs and
fenders, which if I remember GP once acknowledged. But not to worry. I

Congratulations on your purchase. I had a Ram and loved it. Later I
purchased a Roadeo and the two models are very similar. I really like the
components on your bike. There's a certain common handling characteristic
in all Riv models that I notice whenever I get to try a different model and
"It's also orange, which is the very best, and fastest, color."
Rambouillet orange is the best Riv color yet. Fact!
Congratulations!

I updated the bike with an An-Atomica saddle. I have had it out on
long rides recently (there has been some really nice fall weather here
in PA) and I absolutely love this bike. For better or for worse I
went clipless too.
I've been riding for 30+ years and the Rambouillet is the best road
bike I have ever ridden. I'm glad to see the DT shifters on your
bike. For the kind of joy riding the Rambouillet was designed for DT
shifters make a lot of sense. It's like a Jaguar, a marriage of laid

I noticed the same difference in liveliness when I got my new-to me
Ram a month ago compared to my Hillborne. Definitely more road bike
oriented.
The Hillborne is better for bombing rough trails.

Nice build. You can use the Bleriot for all the rough and practical
stuff but this one's just for the joy of it.
That is 100% the plan. For fun rides and long distance road riding I
am going to use the Ram while the Bleriot will be my all-purpose rail
trail bike.
I am not sure how I feel

I had Soba bars, which are the same bend as Noodles I think, on my Ram
when I first got it and thought they felt a bit wide also. I traded
them out for a pair of 45cm Nitto Randonneurs which I really like. I
forget what width the Sobas were. 46 maybe?
That little bit of up and out bend
Mike, as soon as the frame I just built gets back from paint, I'll
have a 60cm blue Ram for sale...I'll post it here first to keep it in
the family.

Joel: I actually had the Cyclofiend DT shifter t-shirt in the back of

Stuart,
Congratulations, and welcome to the club - looks like a great ride.
I think that is the best shade of orange ever to grace a bicycle. I
love my AHH, and they are obviously quite similar in design.
Look forward to seeing it in person soon.
Best regards,
