Hahaha this was me! Never thought I'd have a RBW missed connection lol. Was
on a ride down to PV from Mid City.
Glad ya dug the Roadini. It was actually Grant Petersen's personal bike
that I bought from Riv last year during a 2020 demos sale :)

No motor! I just sold all my e-stuff..I don't need it as much since moving off
that giant hill this year, and I needed to get back to "just riding" and get in
better shape. I still like it and will probably have another ebike again, but
not right now.

Very nice...and it looks so good without a motor
Also, nice you found a host for that bullmoose. I remember your saying the
upward angle didn’t feel right on other bike with steeper HT angles.

Yep yep. It's not entirely logical - I have zip standover in trade for a
'slammed look' frame big enough to use not-drop-bars - but it fits better than
just about any bike I've owned. I'm kind of amazed that my wild guess on what
would work was so spot on. Nailed it!

Looking fantastic. Great little detail with the copper rivets in the black
saddle, color-wise. And didn't expect bullmoose bars on that frame; as
mentioned above, that's neat to see!

New pics! 105 road rear derailleur, RX100 (remember those?) triple front,
Shimano 8-speed DT shifter on a de-SunRaced thumbie, Suntour DT for front,
Brooks ti B17. The Woody Chop Chorts don't really make sense on a bike with
fender clearance, but I like the minimalist vibe. Fun bike!
Sean, first report on Jack Brown's is they're just like Roly Polys: a little
grainy (if that's a description of how a tire rides), but it feels fast. I
wouldn't call them supple like the big 650B tires I'm used to these days, but
that's not what a Roadini is about IMO.

Thanks, Rich! Yeah, I'm really impressed with how well the Bullmoose looks and
works on it. It was a total fluke that I tried them, I never would have set out
to build a Roadini this way. Surprise!

What a great looking bike.
I'd love to hear how you feel about running it with the Jack Browns. I am
in the market for some new rubber for my Bob Brown Road Bike and am torn
between Compass 32's (whatever they are named) and the Jack Browns. I've
been running the bike with an old pair of
Joe, your Roadini is a beauty. The bull moose bars give it a hip, urban flavor.
Love it!

Mo pics. New Jack Browns mounted cuz the Compasses I had were too out of
round..too many days sitting flat on the Pashley, I think. No front derailer at
the moment and it may stay that way, I'm leaning towards running as a 1x8. A
black saddle may go back on, that natural-finish B17 is pretty
A heads up which probably goes without saying, but someone mentioned the Boscos
(which do look great on it): As Will notes in his handlebar roundup on the
Blug, them Boscos don't work on a Roadini. Like not even close, not even if you
by the larger frame. The Bullmoose does, and I think Billie
My friend has one of those Sams and that color is killer in the sunlight.
I probably prefer the cream headtube if I had a choice, but will gladly
take a solid one too.

Yes indeed, I love the cream accents elsewhere on Clem and Roadini. I remember
a run of Sams in (what I called) Vintage Porsche Green that had the

Quite a bike!! Congrats on owning such a well designed ride! And the
It really does have a great head tube badge.
Great looking bike, Joe. I really am digging the boscos on that
frame...looks cool and zippy.

Btw, I know this is supposed to be a dropbar bike with more seatpost showing,
but I highly recommend sizing up and putting sweepy-back bars on for that path
racer vibe. Do I have standover clearance? Pfft, no way. It's light and will
never have big racks and bags on it, so it's no big deal to
LGF: It's certainly lighter/snappier than my Clem, as it should be, they're
completely different bikes.
Of the Rivs I've owned Roadini is most like Romulus, Ram, and Saluki/AHH. It
compares favorably as a road bike to the Cheviot, too, although that bike's
longer wheelbase and mixte look give
Does it feel snappier than your other Rivs?
Easier to pedal on down the road?

Thanks, Rich! I gotta get a pic of them both together, they look amazing side
by side.
Btw, here's a secret: I like solid-color paint better than creamy headtubes.
Gasp!

You can put some weight on 'over' because it's not blue. I've determined that
blue bikes just don't do it for me, I always end up selling them within 6
months. We'll see!

I think we should start a pool right now on whether Joe will keep this for a
long time. Over/Under: 12 months 1 day. I'll take the over. (I've got faith in
ya Joe!)

Nice build! If not for the skinnier wheels, it almost looks like an 80's
MTB (and speaking of MTB, September 12th...)

Well that's a dang nice bike. My first Riv was a Romulus and this felt
instantly familiar, with the same light, springy feel. Does anyone make a
better riding/steering bicycle than Grant/Riv? I think not!
I started with the Boscos which of course make no sense at all, but it was good
enough
Yep yep, it's here and I'm uncustomarily slowly getting it built. I injured
myself last week and was kinda outta commission for a bit, but I'm ready to
ride today so I'm connecting cables as we speak. The first pics will be with
comically tall and reaching-back Boscos: I pulled them from my
Congrats! Did your Orangini ship out yet?
I, myself, ordered a 50cm (80 PBH) last week and was thinking I might be
able to size up to 54, but stuck with the posted guidelines instead. As I'm
setting this up as more of a "road bike", I think I did the right thing.
Excited to see pics of your
No, I just wound up Round #437 of trying to make drops work and it ain't
happening. No matter what I do I can't get the hoods position dialed in in a
way that lets me brake in the drops (small hands), so I end up in one
comfortable position with dodgy braking on fast descents. I'm over it.

Nice!!!

HA! Two-speed maybe, electric no. If any Riv gets the e-treatment again it's
going to be the Clem H, but I'm not real motivated for that, either..I've been
doing a lot more non-e biking lately. I still like 'em (ebikes), but moving off
that giant hill I lived at has changed the want/need
I look forward to the photos of it electrified and two-speeded! Grin. Stunning,
