Thanks all for the thoughtful responses. I've emailed Alex Wetmore to inquire about his process in adjusting the Quickbeam's rear spacing. My buddy is pretty set on the Rohloff, as well as a Rivendell, so I'll let you all know how his process goes. Had anyone ever used Sheldon's prescribed

Anylocal who wants to spread a frame can use our tool for it. We won't do it for you, you do it yourself and break your own frame (highly unlikely, but this is your deal). It's a Hozan tool made only for this job. One bike shop in 600 has one. It hooks onto the rear dropouts and spreads 'em with

I believe Alex Wetmore used this configuration. If he doesn't chime in here, try posting your question to the iBob list. Also, google his name plus rohloff quickbeam and you'll find pics of his build. Good luck! Lee On Dec 1, 7:01 am, Adam oceanm...@gmail.com wrote: I am doing some research

You might also check out the new Alfine 11. It's completely redesigned and, dare I say, now a viable competitor with the Rohloff and about half the price of the Rohloff. That said, the Alfine 11 rear spacing (135) is the same as the Rohloff, so respacing is still an issue. On Dec 1, 10:45

I had a custom bike built around te Rohloff, so no spacing problems. I believe you may need to use a chain tensioner if the bike is not properly set up for the hub. I had maintenance problems with my Rohloff. The seal blew after a very short while. Rohloff was in between U.S. distributors at
