Fred, you aren't too too far from me (I am in Harrisburg). Are you by any
chance doing the Lancaster covered bridge ride in August?

Pretty low odds here in Arkansas.

Within a few weeks here in Vancouver, B.C. I came across three Bleriots (
one was a 57 cm that was finally sold at a shop after being stored for
awhile ) and one Bleriot had a white unicrown disc fork on it which looked,
well, very odd and out of place. Also a girl was riding a Hilsen with
There was once a Riv Owners map created in Google Maps (2010) and added to
via the RBW group but it looks inactive:

Here's a map via FlickR of the photos posted by Riv Owners who marked their

Nice to know, Hugh. If you happen to be down from Sunland with your bike,
let me know. I am pretty easy to ride with. I have a family with all
girls and one small boy dog (Louie). None of them ride except Louie (sits

Nice bike Tom. I had a Hillborne and enjoyed it a lot. I live a few miles
north of you in Carlsbad. I ride along the coast down to your area quite
often too.
No Riv at this time but I have a few lugged steel customs with plenty of
Riv parts.

In Philly? Seems rare. I have two - SimpleOne and Hillborne. I see a red
All-Rounder (I think) some mornings. To be fair though we have Bilenky's every

Lugged steel customs with plenty of Riv parts sounds pretty cool to me. I
have seen Boxer bicycles, Boulder bicycles, and Seven (OK, OK, one of
theirs is titanium). Some of the special projects I have seen are gorgeous

Hi Tom,
Really like the build it looks awesome! Most of my family live in Carmel
Valley and I ride their occasionally. Perhaps we can put together a day
ride one of these days.

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Tom Virgil and a Samuel

I am still dialing the Sam in. I live in Del Mar Heights, but often ride
out to the beach on Carmel Valley Road. You just might see another

This just goes to show how warped my perspective is. I live in Oakland,
just 10 miles or so from Riv headquarters, and I see several Rivs every
week. I guess I'd begun to think of them as mass-produced.

Well, I'm no mathematician, but I used to watch Numb3ers...
It would seem on a straight percentage of bikes analysis, given the large
number of bicycles and the small percentage of Riv's in the count, the odds
would be pretty low. But, you have to factor in the percentage of RBW
riders who Go
I just happened to see a mustached Hilsen ride by as I went the opposite
way on M-89 in Michigan yesterday. In the past I have run across 2
Hillbornes, a Quickbeam and a Ramboulet, not too bad for a county of 300K
in the midwest.
