Once upon a time I rode 700c x 60mm on my Bombadil... I'm a fat-tire lover,
One thing I've learned is I much prefer soft, supple tires to stiff, flat
protection tires. And I haven't had more flats (your milage will obviously
vary). The ride is soo smoth. Plush. Delicious. Thunder Burts
are up there on supple scale and give an amazing ride.

I've recently become interested in the Thunder Burts. How do they do on
the pavement, compared to other tires you ridden? I've got a Surly Karate
Monkey so now I can go as fat as I care to! I'm running 40mm Duremes right
now but want to jump to 50-60mm tires but I want a true 50+mm tire that
They're light, flexible, offer decent cornering grip in the dirt, and ride
well on asphalt. They best thing I can say is that I don't notice they're
there on pavement. Can't say that about many 2" knobbies!
