It has been my experience that the twine in the Riv wrap unravels fairly quickly if you don't cement it in place with shellac. I suppose you could also saturate it with wood glue or some similar absorbable adhesive. I am not normally a shellacker of bar tape; it's a messy job, and shellac dries

And if you don't have that sleeve on the handlebar to work off an edge with, this tutorial works great too! This person does the process on the top of the bars which is easier to do but the end result looks 10% better if you start on the underside of the bars. Happy twining!
