Juniper is at 3000 feet elevation, and we're starting at zero. We meet at 3
pm, say we start around 3:20. Sunset is around 7.
I might start earlier, just to be sure to get into camp with plenty of time
to set up before it gets dark. Maybe not, though. The bike I'm taking has a

I'd like to start earlier just in case I take too long to get there. When I
checked the route someone posted, it was 12 miles of climbing. Depending on
how much pushing/walking I need to do, I'd still want to get there before
it's dark. I don't have much experience setting up camp.

Starting earlier than 3PM sounds better to me also. I am pretty good
at getting up the mountain without camping gear, we'll see how that

trails? I see a dirt Juniper trail on the map taking off from the North Gate
Road. I thought this was going to be a dirt road ride, don't know why I made
that assumption. I've never been to Mt. Diablo.

Northgate Rd averages 6.9 percent with a peak, riding up to the 1,000-
ft mark, of 12+ percent.
A 2000 fit climb in 6.5 miles.
Summit Rd. from the junction Ranger Station to the top, is a 7.5
percent average, and a 1470-ft or so climb in 4.5 miles, with a short
10 percent section around Blue Oak

Been meaning to post, but have been caught up in a friend's wedding
