Maybe you guys need to oil your derailers with 0w-20 synthetic.

free it up. Usually the issue is moisture from warm air (inside)

They are not too bad, it all depends on the type of snow. They did turn
out to be a little tall for the Sam's clearance so I had to remove my
fenders until I can afford to buy a shorter studded equivalent. Currently
the crown keeps the snow off the lugs! :) That all being said the do ride
I hear you on the frozen brakes! I have to kick my derailleurs to get them
to shift most mornings. Not the best long term care for the bike but it
gets me there!
