I just pulled mine out of the box as I’m moving along with my Appaloosa
build. My scale says it’s 1 lb, 11.5 oz.
Cheers,
Keith

Has anyone here weighed the 170 variety and can tell me the weight? Curious
how they stack up against other cranks
Thanks

The guard sold with the Silver Wide/Low crank should support up to a 40T
chainring. Even with a 40T big ring, the jump to/from a 24T small ring is still
16T, which is usually the recommended max spread (e.g., 50/34).
As for whether a 38T big ring is enough, you need to figure that for yourself.
Thomas: don't overthink things. A 38 X 11 with a (by Rivendell standards)
skinny 38 mm tire will give you a 97" top gear. FWIW, the top gear on the
only bike I own with multiple gears is 89" (42 X 14 X 29.5") and I never
use this. The other 3 are fixies with, seriatim, 76", 70", and 69" gears,

Where do you live? I rode a 38/24 stick shift for years and so long as I didn’t
mind coasting the downhills (I didn’t) steep enough to exceed 35mph I was fine.
38 x 12 high gear is plenty fast unless you’re a racer.

Hi, all.
I’m getting a Silver 38/24 Wide/low double. I’m uncertain if the 38 will be
enough gear for me forever, so I’m wondering what my options are if proves
problematic at some point. (It won’t be a problem right away, but it might
become a problem if I get into better shape and decide to go
Yes, along the lines of what Joe said, it's stated as a "heads up" to quell
complaining.
I've noticed that there is no universal standard for crank arm spacing. If you
measure the thickness of every spider, you will get different results for every
crank. Then you have the rings, not all shaped
He actually says "not good for 10 or 11”, and I suspect Grant is practicing a
bit of 'liability speak' so you can't yell at him for dropping your 11-speed
chain between rings on his cranks. My Silver double-plus-guard shifts great
with a 9-speed chain, I think you'll be ok with a 10.

You r
CYB. They aren't designed for 10-speeds, though they may work perfectly well
with them. I think cranksets are notorious for this.

'm using an 8 speed Logic with 10 cogs and 10 sp chain and it all shifts
perfectly. I've used ancient Pro 5 Vis cranks with 9 cogs and I wouldn't
hesitate to use them with 10. I'd be surprised if the Silver cranks can't
work with 10 sp chain. Why does Rivendell say that?

94 bcd with 5 bolt design would be great.

In the new Blug post it mentions it may be coming.
Very cool! Interested to see what it'll be like.
Maybe they will have it all one bcd of such and such a diameter so's you
can remove all rings without having to take off the crank arms.
That would be a cool and functional design for un-mechanics
