Phil, the Dismal Swamp Trail is a great ride. Downtown Norfolk has been
re-vitalized with a consequent growth in traffic. Significant strides
(protected bike lanes) have been made in Ghent. Fun place to bike. A lot of
cyclists in Pungo, particularly on the weekends.

I loved growing up in Virginia Beach. I used to ride along the Dismal Swamp
Trail, right along route 17, into South Mills, North Carolina and ride
back. When I would come home for breaks during college, my friends and I
would meet at the Dairy Queen in Ghent at night, and ride around downtown

70" fixed gear, too. But only 17-18 miles.
