I downloaded (release 15-10-2008.zip file), and tried as you suggested and I am
sure I did exactly what you said. Install the 4 files via the Tools ->
extensions manager...

Yes, I have become lazy as Bill says in the link you pointed out. I am
certainly of the old school where I use <- in my normal coding in functions
etc, <<- for assigning a variable t
cells.
RExcel has 5 demo workbooks showing what you can do.
They are available from the RExcel menu.
Have a look at these. They will show you what you can accomplish
with the connection mechanism.

I guess my question is why does RExcel need to set Rserver when it should be
part of the installation?
My colleague managed to go down the RExcel menu and set the Rserver.
