I can confirm that we got the DC Disco approved as the Utility Disco with a
local Utility per the logic David mentioned in his email.
The Utility did test the system and the disconnect in the field prior to
approving the interconnection.

I could also add electrolyte to the cells with the lowest SG after all
this, but how much to add is a real crap shoot. Can anyone offer guidance on
adding electrolyte to compensate for spillage?
Hi Alan,

Friends:
For years I have relied on some old studies to quantify the effectiveness
of one and two axis tracking. I have heard anecdotal reports that tracking
does not deliver the increase in power that was originally reported,
especially in winter. Are there any recent studies on PV
This is a majorly bad idea! Tap water usually contains dissolved minerals that
will screw up battery plates, reduce or increase conductivity and generally
void battery warrantees.
Am I correct about this Jamie?

I've used NREL's data (PVWatts) to compare trackers vs. fixed. Here
in Taos, its worth the money for the summer, but not cost effective
for the winter. I only recommend them now for water pumping (summer
max load) and grid tie.
I have no reason not to trust the NREL data. Its correlated
Good questions, but I believe that you have made one error - that all
generator manufacturers have stopped making 1800 RPM generators. This is not
the case. Lister/Petter still makes a superb 1800 RPM unit that is used by LP
under their own brand, and by Onan (but painted green). They are
Jeff said; I have also found that in order to meet the new Federal
Pollution Regulations, all generator manufacturers have stopped making the
more reliable 1800 RPM models as they could not get the slower speed heavy
cast iron engines to meet these new regulations.
Jeff this is somewhat BS. It's
