Every one I’ve ever seen is replaceable.
The sealed units come with a short 1/2” temp sensor, and the vented units come
with a temp sensor mounted to the transformer.
But its the same attachment, small 2 pin polarized connector.

Put a low voltage timer on the fan that is only allows it to be on during
the prime Solar hours of solar production and designed hours of heavy draws
by the Inverter . Obviously off at night when people are sleeping and
times when no one is at home either in the early morning or late afternoon.

Often when the fan fails it is caused by the thermistor on the PC board
that has failed. That is why Outback wanted you to buy the PCB. The
battery temp sensor is probably fine and you can check it reading the
temperature of the battery in one of the menus.
